Today we have quite a few nice Oranges running around. We don't breed the dwarfs on a large scale, only keeping 24 cages for the whole program and included in some of those cages are some of my Seal Points and Siamese Sable and I've started a Steel ND project as well. But what we do have are quite nice and a huge improvement on what we had years ago and some of the nicest examples of the colour in the UK. For 2011 we are going to try a little harder and concentrate more on the Butterfly or Broken Oranges. They are such a stricking Dwarf and there are not many in the UK in Butterfly/Broken at all. Hopefully we might get some other non extension series ones out too like Sooty Fawn, Beige etc.
The first litter of Steel Netherlands is due shortly and again it will be an F1 litter between a Miniature Lop and a ND. Heres hoping for something in that litter to work with. Watch this space later in the year.
SANDY
This is an old buck now and he is behind a lot of our Dwarfs. Although his colour is good, he has too much ticking, but he is very useful to us still.
JASPER
A young buck which we have high hopes for. He is super colour and is shaping up really well for type. He is a chocolate orange so hence no ticking what so ever.
RUBY
The best typed Orange we have bred so far. She is very high rufus and because of this looks like she has ticking, but she doesnt. She is also carrying the chocolate gene.
STAR
Is a lovely shaped Orange Broken doe out a super Orange ND Doe. She is another F1 Mini Lop x N.Dwarf and her father is a Black Mantle Mini Lop
SUNKIST
Our latest baby and yet again another doe. She is a Chocolate Orange and is excellent colour. She is starting to shape up pretty well too with lovely style about her.
BUTTERBY
Our latest baby and yet again another doe. She is a Chocolate Orange Mantle Butterfly and is our F1 Broken ND project baby. Her Father is a Sooty B/fly Mini Lop.
CONNY
Another Tiny daughter but this time a Cinnamon. She carries Orange and will be mated to Sandy very shortly to ensure more Orange (chocolate carriers).
RUPERT
Is a really nice Tort buck which has come out of two Oranges. He has lovely body type and is going to have a beautiful head. He possibly carries chocolate.
BUTTERKIST
Is another one of the Butterfly ND project. He is out of Butterby's father (sooty mantle mini lop) and his mother is Sunkist. Although he is not ideal ND type he has lovely markings.
